CO2 Laser Facial Resurfacing
Turn back the clock without surgery
Ageing takes its toll on your appearance, often much sooner than you would like. Skin laxity, facial wrinkles and pigmentation irregularities can keep you from looking and feeling your absolute best. Fortunately, effective laser treatment can help to counter many ageing signs while triggering collagen production for natural, long-lasting results.
Ultra-Pulse CO2 is the state-of-the-art technology in laser skin resurfacing. This tool has been developed to minimise recovery and downtime without compromising results. If you are looking for a way to turn back the clock without a major disruption to your daily routine, the Ultra-Pulse TotalFX may be your perfect match.
CO2 laser resurfacing is also the ‘gold standard’ care for the treatment of acne scars.

The results you deserve
One treatment can accelerate collagen regeneration for up to six months, leading to long-term skin rejuvenation and lasting results for you. The entire face is usually treated with UltraPulse CO2 laser treatment. However, your procedure will be tailored to your specific concerns and expected outcome. The eye area is one region which is commonly treated alone, and the wrinkles and crepey skin in the region respond very well to CO2 laser resurfacing. Depending on the severity of your issues and your desired results, multiple passes can be performed to target different areas for rejuvenation. During your initial consultation with Dr Gerarchi, he will assess the current condition of your skin and recommend a series of treatments in six-month increments or as needed. Often, the problems that we see on the surface are only a fraction of what’s going on underneath. At the base level, our cells are not receiving the essential vitamins and minerals from our daily diet. Additionally, Dr Gerarchi will recommend a set of skincare tips to supplement your CO2 treatments and to optimise the health and appearance of your skin.
The UltraPulse Difference
Traditional CO2 lasers have been used in skin rejuvenation for around 20 years. It involves an entire skin resurfacing, and can be associated with a lengthy downtime and potential complications, including scarring, infection and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or hyperpigmentation.
However, the UltraPulse CO2 laser system combines CO2 laser with fractionated laser, and treats only a fraction of the skin, leaving gaps of untouched tissue to help reduce down time and alleviate the post-procedure risks. This optimises the balance between effective results and minimal healing time.
The UltraPulse CO2 laser process
When you undergo treatment with TotalFX, laser energy is delivered to the underlying dermal layers in a grid-like pattern. This triggers the body’s natural healing response, increasing blood flow, fueling the treatment area with oxygen and nutrients to stimulate the production of new collagen in the dermis. As the treatment is applied, cell rejuvenation begins, and the new collagen tightens the skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Surface cells are eliminated over time, while new cells reveal softer, smoother skin.
The TotalFX system calls upon two complementary technologies, DeepFX and ActiveFX, to target a variety of your skin concerns in a single treatment. DeepFX uses narrow microbeams to tighten the dermis and improve the appearance of deep wrinkles and volume loss. ActiveFX uses larger beams to treat the skin’s upper layers and reduce fine lines, pigmentation and textural irregularities. You will notice a replenished look over time that cannot otherwise be achieved with over the counter skincare creams, and are difficult to achieve with any other laser.
Your treatment journey
Your UltraPulse procedure will take around 60 minutes to complete. You will receive a topical anaesthetic prior to your treatment, and be offered sedation if desired, minimising discomfort and ensuring consistent delivery across the treatment area.
You may experience a warm sensation during the procedure. Immediately following treatment, your skin will appear very red and will be quite sensitive. These reactions are standard and easily managed through a customized skincare regimen prescribed for you to use in the days following your UltraPulse treatment. These products aid in healing, protect against further damage and optimise your final rejuvenation result.
While most people are suitable for treatment with UltraPulse CO2, it is important to consult with an experienced physician before going ahead with the procedure.
As with any resurfacing or rejuvenating procedure, your choice of an experienced practitioner will ensure the best possible results.
