Fat Transfer and Injectable Fillers Sydney
A natural and permanent anti-ageing treatment
As we age, it’s inevitable that our appearance and skin will undergo changes; not all of these are welcome. We also tend to lose volume in our face, particularly in the cheeks and around the eyes.
Fat transfers are a highly effective and more natural way to smooth the appearance of winkles, and restore a more youthful volume to your face. The stem cells within the reintroduced fatty tissues may also continue the quality of the skin around the targeted area, which can lead to an improvement in your complexion.
While the implementation of this procedure is similar to dermal fillers, fat transfer treatment provides results which are generally considered to be long-lasting or permanent.

The results you desire, and deserve
Also known as fat grafting, micro-fat grafting or liposculpture, fat transfer treatment removes unwanted far from one area of the body, and then places it into another area in need of augmentation. This revolutionary procedure can be used to smooth lines and creases and restore volume to areas such as the temples, cheekbones and under the eyes.
Beyond its anti-ageing capabilities, fat transfer treatment can also be used to correct minor asymmetries and imperfections. With its minimal downtime and relative safety, this procedure is an excellent option for those wishing to enhance their facial aesthetics.
Meeting your surgeon
During your consultation with Dr Paul Gerarchi your goals for this procedure will be discussed at length, including where the fat will be harvested from, and your desired outcome. No two treatments will ever be the same; your treatment will be tailored to your unique circumstances. Dr Gerarchi will ensure all aspects of your treatment have been explained and discussed, so you leave your consultation feeling comfortable and confident in your decision.
Your fat transfer treatment journey
The first step in your fat transfer treatment journey is to harvest the donor fat. Generally this will be taken from the abdomen, thighs, hips or buttocks.
Once the extraction is complete, the harvested cells will be placed into a centrifuge, which filters and prepares them for the injection process. Once this has been completed, the fat cells are then injected into the chosen sites, providing a natural and even result.
While it is possible you may experience some swelling around the areas from which the fat was extracted, this should subside within a week or two. As the injectable part of this procedure is minimally invasive, it rarely leads to any noticeable side-effects, and should not involve any significant downtime. Some bruising and swelling may appear in the days following injections around the delicate eye area, but this will generally subside very quickly, and should be easily hidden with makeup.
Your post-surgical journey
As this procedure is not overly invasive, you will be able to return home immediately following your fat transfer treatment. You may notice the areas where the fat has been injected seem a little fuller than anticipated; this is intentional as some fat will be naturally reabsorbed by the body over time. Once this has settled, you should find the results to be very pleasing and natural.
Managing your pain and recovery
As you may experience some discomfort around the site from which the fat was removed, Dr Gerarchi will provide you with a prescription for pain relief medication prior to your treatment. We recommend you fill this script prior to your procedure, and have it ready for your return.
You may also be prescribed with an antibiotic to help prevent infection as your body heals. Your follow-up appointments will be scheduled at particular intervals after your treatment to allow Dr Gerarchi to track your recovery.
