Injectable Fillers Around The Eye

Turn back the clock without surgery

The eyes are often the first area to show those telltale signs of ageing; from fine lines to dark circles, you can look older and more tired than you really feel. Now, through injectable fillers, there is an effective way to turn back the clock and refresh your eyes without surgery.

Injectable fillers are an ideal way to restore a more youthful appearance to your face. When lines become evident around your eyes, whether it is crow’s feet in the outer corners, or deeper frown lines between the brows, injectable fillers can help. With many varieties of injectable fillers to choose from, your procedure can be customised to your specific needs and desired outcomes. These treatments are not permanent, but they can give you the more youthful appearance you are craving until you are ready to pursue a more permanent surgical procedure.

Meeting your practitioner

During your initial consultation, a qualified injector will assess your facial skin and individual needs. You will then have the opportunity to discuss your options, and create a plan to achieve your goals and desires. As everyone is truly unique, you will be given tailored treatment and care according to your situation.

All benefits and potential risks (if any) will be discussed in the consultation process. Questions are encouraged to enhance your understanding of the procedure so you can move forward with comfort and confidence in your choice.

Your journey to youthful eyes

There are various types of injectables which can be used around the eye area. Dr Gerarchi works with several on a regular basis:

Wrinkle relaxer is a prescription medication which relaxes the muscles that lead to the formation of deep lines in the face. To create a more youthful appearance, the treatment can alleviate the appearance of crow’s feet, frown lines and horizontal forehead lines.

Delivered directly into the muscle via a very fine needle, you may feel some stinging when the wrinkle relaxer is injected. This only lasts a few seconds. You will be able to return to your daily activities as soon as your treatment is completed. The results of your treatment will appear within 2 weeks – even sooner if you have had muscle relaxer in that area before. These results can last up to four months before the muscles begin to return to their previous state. Dr Gerarchi encourages repeat treatments for longer-lasting results.

Natural dermal fillers use ingredients like hyaluronic acid, a sugar already present in our skin, to effectively hydrate and plump the underlying dermal layers, diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the skin’s surface. These formulations can also be used to add subtle volume underneath the eye in the tear trough area to minimise the dark circles and loose skin. With results that last about twelve months, hyaluronic acid is a versatile injectable.

Scientifically created to have a similar effect as natural dermal fillers, synthetic dermal fillers also boost volume in target areas to diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Your natural dermal fillers treatment will take about 30 minutes to perform. Slight discomfort can be expected during the injection, but the sensation will be short-lived. Results are immediate, though the filler will smooth out and ‘settle’ over the following day or two. The amount administered is dependent on your specific needs and our qualified injectors will tailor the procedure to suit you.

Using natural fat extracted from other areas of the body via liposuction, areas around the lower eyelid can be plumped and filled to correct hollowness. Due to the sensitive, delicate nature of the area underneath the eyes, it is vital to seek an experienced injector for this procedure. If administered successfully, fat transfer can be a permanent and natural way to rejuvenate the eyes.

During the treatment, Dr Gerarchi will carefully administer the fat taken from another area of your body to fill the hollow area below the lower eyelid. This is a slightly more complicated filler procedure due to the extraction method required, the sensitive and thin nature of the skin below the eyes and the care it requires to ensure that the correct amount is administered. Post treatment, you may notice bruising and swelling to the area, which will subside in two to three weeks. While some of the injected fat will be reabsorbed by the body, the majority will remain in the treatment area permanently.

Your recovery

The recovery period following injectable eye treatments is virtually non-existent. Occasionally some bruising may occur. Most patients are able to return to their regular activities immediately, without pain. However, recovery for fat transfer procedures can take a little longer. Any swelling or bruising from your injectable procedure will subside within days.

Your post-injectables journey

Dr Gerarchi will assess the progress of your injectable fillers and note the positive impact on the eye region.

He will also provide you with a treatment plan to ensure your positive results are maintained.
