Temporal Fossa Augmentation
Restore youthful fullness to your temples
One of the lesser known signs of ageing is loss of fullness in the temple region. If you train or exercise a lot, this can also come at the cost of the fullness in your temples. Fat loss and depletion of the temporal muscle, known as temporal fossa, can leave people with an aged, hollowed appearance in this area.
From injectables to permanent surgical solutions, Dr Paul Gerarchi’s advanced techniques can restore the fullness of your temples, and return you to a more youthful aesthetic, matching the way the rest of your body feels. Temporal fossa augmentation can achieve excellent results in both males and females, and can also be combined with other anti-ageing treatments such as cheek augmentation, or eye enhancement.

The results you deserve
The best approach to achieve the results you desire from temporal fossa augmentation will be dependent on your unique circumstances. Dr Paul Gerarchi will assess your unique needs and desires before he recommends one of the following techniques.
Dermal fillers can be used to provide additional fullness and volume to your temples without the need for surgery. Thanks to advancements in this field, some modern dermal fillers can even provide results which last two or more years. Temporal fossa augmentation through dermal fillers can be achieved in just a few minutes, and does not require the use of any anaesthesia.
While mild bruising or swelling around the injection sites may be experienced by some patients, there is generally very little discomfort associated with dermal filler injections, and you should be able to return to your usual activities immediately afterwards.
Whilst completed in a similar fashion to injectable dermal fillers, fat transfer treatment may achieve more natural results, and the benefits of this treatment may even be permanent. A two-step procedure, fat transfer treatment involves harvesting natural fat cells from another area of the body, such as the midsection, buttocks or thighs, and transferring it to your temples.
For your comfort, you will be administered with either a local or general anaesthesia during the fat removal procedure. The fat is then prepared for injection, and the remainder of the procedure is performed in a fashion very similar to dermal fillers.
The most permanent method to restore volume and a youthful aesthetic to the temples, temporal implants involve the surgical insertion of a biocompatible material. This treatment will be customised to perfectly suit your unique facial structure and shape, and achieve the beautiful, natural results you deserve. Whilst this procedure does involve making incisions to place the implants, these will be strategically located within the hair to minimise the appearance of any scarring, and ensure the optimal aesthetic result.
As this is a surgical procedure, you will require general anaesthesia to undergo temporal implants. While you should be able to return to the comfort of your own home on the same day as this procedure, you will not be able to drive yourself; please organise for a friend or relative to drive you, and remain with you for the first 24 hours following your procedure. Most patients find they are able to return to their regular activities about one week after the procedure.
